ABOUT DEVICEHOP

A shorter path between your devices

DeviceHop is a free browser-based file transfer tool built for a common moment: a file is on one device, you need it on another, and installing an app or uploading to a drive feels unnecessary.

01

Open, don't install

DeviceHop runs in modern browsers across phones, tablets and computers.

02

Pair, don't register

A temporary QR code replaces account creation, passwords and email verification.

03

Transfer, don't collect

Files move through an encrypted browser connection instead of permanent DeviceHop storage.

The problem DeviceHop solves

Moving one photo, video or document from a phone to a computer often means finding a cable, signing into cloud storage, messaging the file to yourself or installing platform-specific software. DeviceHop reduces that flow to opening a website and scanning a QR code.

Designed for different devices

The two devices do not need the same operating system or browser. DeviceHop can connect iPhone, Android, Windows, macOS and Linux browsers in either direction, including across different internet networks.

Privacy as a product decision

DeviceHop does not require an identity before transfer and does not keep file contents in permanent storage. Temporary pairing sessions and encrypted WebRTC transport limit how much the central service needs to do. The privacy page explains operational metadata separately from file content.

Clear practical limits

The current limit is 512 MB per file. Multiple files are supported, but there is no mid-file resume if a connection fails. The receiving browser assembles incoming data in memory, so older devices may be less comfortable with very large transfers.

What comes next

DeviceHop will continue improving reliability, clarity and cross-device usability while keeping the core workflow simple: open, pair and send.
